53 Weeks: Another Yearlong Visual Diary
New in 2018We're preparing to have another go at the 52 Weeks Project and the idea is to start as soon as possible. There is still a bit of prep work to be done. The box frames we used last time were pre-manufactured and this time we're making our own. So far a couple of dozen people have signed on to do the project too and you're invited to do the same.
In looking back on it I'd still say that the 52 Weeks project was one of the more important bodies of work I've ever done. It was a big undertaking on many levels. It required a serious commitment of time and energy to devote a full year to really just stripping yourself naked in front of anyone that passed by. I can still remember precise days as they happened a decade ago because of the project. I can look back and see exactly what I ate [and mostly drank] during a given week and I can spot the moment when the heartache began for both me and my best friend Chris. I can also spot the weeks where we both turned those things around and that's important. When you start out doing a project like this you really need to publicly state it somehow. Declaring that you going to do something is kind of a way to build some accountability into the idea and serves to ensure there's less of a chance you'll wimp out about it later. If you're inherently lazy like I am then making a commitment to another person is a good idea. And same goes for them with me. I'm annoying and I am capable of smoking people's patience right down to the filter. When you tell me to make sure and keep you on track I'll do that. Okay. So maybe if you're interested in doing the project along with a few others then let me know. You should also join the Facebook Group if you use Facebook. You can read some old Intro Notes from the early stages of the project and by all means check out the page [and any other info you can find] on my heroine Candy Jernigan. The New Boxes |
We're going for it again in 2017. You should join us.
